Sock socks socks!

It'a all about socks!

I finished one pair:

And immediately started another pair (of course). This time a slightly more complicated pattern, the drunken bees from domesticrafts. I really liked this pattern from the very first time I saw it, some while ago. I did make a few changes, to fit my needlesize n stuff, and also I omitted a few things that seemed to me not worth the efford. I really like them!

Walk with me (until the battery died)

There was a little bit of sun yesterday, so we went for a walk. Unfortunately the camera batteries died already at the beginning of our walk. Here is what I got before the unfortunate end-of-them-damn-batteries-and-why-didnt-i-take-more-with-me??? incident.

There are some really old and mouldered buildings in this area of Copenhagen. Look at the detail, nice eh?

Broken cars just keep lying around.

There are some really really ugly old buildings...

And rather scary new ones too:

And then there is this strange glass gangway, connecting two apartment buildings:

AAAARRRGGGHHH

I finished the sweater thingie I was knitting, but realized afterwards that I SEW IT TOGETHER THW WRONG WAY!!! AAAAAARRRGGGHHH. I think it will lie in my knitting basket for a while, before I can find enuff energy to do it the right way...

It's all about knitting, reading and 1 duck!

On my bf's bday (hurray to acronyms, even tho bday is not really an acronym, is it?) I made a whole roasted duck for the first time. Big success!

I finished a pair of simple, gray mittens, and I like them.

There is more knitting, as I have worked on this thingie for quite some time now, and now it needs only a few more hours!

And now to the reading part. I just started this one:

Hmmm... I DO like winter, but this is not nice... Where's the snow?!

Books!

I finished reading MJ Hyland : Carry Me Down within a few days. Coz. It's. So. Good! That's all for today!

Knitting!

Look! There has been knitting! It is the Wheat-Ear Cable Yoke from Interweave Knits. I follow the pattern, but I use a different kind of yarn, much thinner, as I don't like the armor-like appearance.

Wheat flour for bread should have at least 12 % of protein, according to my fantastic breadbaking
books, but I prefer organic flour. This wasn't possible, until ... tada ... 1 week ago, when I found this:

I'm also knitting these, as I lost my other gloves in the bus a few days ago:

It starts to look a little christmas ish here:

Oooo...

... poor neglected blog! I got a book from the library *hurray*. Clare Clarke's "The Nature of Monsters". I haven't really had time to concentrate on it so far, so no verdict today.

Aaaaaa food!

I'm still waiting for books from the library. I start to think it's strange, did they change something, so that you can only get books a few times a month, some type of economising? o.O ?

Yesterday we ate the first real christmassy food. A salad of duck breast with pears, celery, almonds and pomegranate, with a dressing of gravy, ketchap manis, apple cider vinegar and pomegranate puree.
This combined with a potato gratin tasted like heaven!.

I haven't used pomegranates so much in food before, but together with some fat foot they are wonderful.

When I feel like a quick and fresh tasting dessert I often make this: Greek Yoghurt (YES, 10 percent fat, anything else is not good enuff :p ), an orange, lots of sugar and finally some chocolate sprinkled on top.

A little bit of this..

.. and a little bit of that.

I have been reading, but no good books unfortunately. I started and stopped reading two books, and then I ordered a gazillion new books from the library. It usually only takes a day or two for books to arrive at the local library, but now a week has gone and no books have arrived... PØH! There has been a lot of cooking, and some of it even tasted good! But most of the time I just ate the food, and forgot to take pictues of it first...

I did take a few pictures recently, so here they are.

First off is some sweet and sour dish. mMmmm. The recipe is taken from the magazine Mad! which I btw recommend. Really, it's good, most dishes taste ok, are not too expensive, and it's even possible to find the ingredients.

Next thing is an apple cake thingie, which I only ever make late in the evening, when I realize I don't have chocolate, but instead some semi boring apples. Butter, sugar and flour is always in my kitchen, and vupti there is a cake. I tastes good too.

The following pictures doesn't really need any explanation I guess...

I am the biggest Christmas enthusiast ever, I love all this gold and silver and the food and the cookies, and the spices and everything. So I bought a Christmas cooking book for myself. It's so good! And it has wonderful pictures in it. It combines two good things, Christmas and Camilla Plum.

This blog is not dead!

But my computer is... So I'm writing from my bf's computer, who uses kubuntu instead of ubuntu, argh! It is my work computer, so I assume they either fix the problem, or I'll get a new one. I do plan to buy a new computer though, the tinygigacute eee pc my bf told me about yesterday, which I have been dreaming and talking about ever since. It weighs only 920 g! Omf!

There has been some cooking, and I even managed to take pictures of it! The first is some oven-baked beetroot and onion, which afterwards was mixed together with some bulgur and feta. Mmm.

The next one was a tuna sandwich thingie, that looked real good and tasted like shit. Ah well, you can't always succeed.

Because we both have been ill there hasn't been that many "walk with me in autumn", but we managed to go for a little walk today (on our way to grocery shopping).
I know I know, every other blogger or so prolly says the same, but the colors really are beautiful at the moment!

Most of the pictures were taken around the pretty Bispebjerg hospital.

Some of the trees had lost most of its leaves already.

This is the main building of the hospital:

Look at the contrast, gray and red, so nice!

Views of Copenhagen.

Ugly.

What I bought in Germany (and more!)

As always when I'm in Germany, I bought a lot of things that I cannot get here in Denmark, the most important thing being good sock yarn. Really, what wrong with Denmark, why don't they have good sock yarn??! I also bought a lot of food stuff, and tea:

When I paid for the tea, the shop assistant asked me if I still had my Teelamass. Errr. o_O Wot? When I said "no" she gave me another one for free, so here it is:

And the sock yarn:

I bought a LOT of strange things for baking and cooking:

I finished the big white blubbb, and can positively say I hate it and will never wear it. Also it will get my personal award for worst written pattern encountered so far.

I did start something new immediately:

Holidays

I had been looking forward to my 1-week autumn vacation for a very long time, planning to enjoy it as much as possible. And then I catch a cold... ARGH! Well there was one day of holidays before I caught the cold, where I actually was able to take a few pictures. So here they come:

So beautiful!
