It took me (absolutely sewing-beginner) about a week to finish. I followed a pattern from Burda easy fashion, which I can highly recommend for beginners. They have step-by-step instruction with pictures, so if you don't understand what they write ("Untere Besatzzugaben an der Schößchenansatznaht nach oben legen...") looking at the pictures usually helps. Putting in the arms was a nightmare tho...
It's still full of loose ends, and lots of mistakes, so don't look too closely, but I LOVE IT!!!
